So I’ve had this blog for over 2 years now and never fully used it properly (and by fully use I mean never used it at all). It occurred to me in late 2011 that if I want to seriously make a career out of my interests in design of all nature I need to be more proactive and stop hanging around waiting for it to happen.
At present I have a great little job as an in-house all round designer for a leisure company with a vast range of faces and sections, a job which I thoroughly enjoy not just for the people but also the range of work which I can get to design. What’s you issue then? I hear you say, simply put very little, I am grateful for being employed in this economic time and that is categorically not to be sneered at, however the business with all its faces simply does not need anyone beyond entry level experience and having been there for over a year and a half now I feel that I need to be considering my future in the long term.
So, I will not state these as ‘New Years Resolutions’ as I don’t believe in them, instead I am simply going to just get on with it. I will be keeping abreast of current and upcoming technologies, HTML5, CSS3, web applications, mobile ‘apps’, graphics design, typography everything which I enjoy and I am passionate about to keep myself motivated to learn and grow as a designer, as a professional and as a person.
One of my ways of doing this will be to try and keep a regular presence online, here in my little slice of the Tinterweb I’ll be sharing anything I find interesting, venting my frustration on silly little things (like the extra coding Dreamweaver keeps adding to my sites) and generally just rambling on about design life in general. If anyone happens to stumble across my ramblings I thank you for listening and feel free to leave me any comments or share anything you find interesting that you think might be of interest to our little community.
